COVID Testing Update
Hello Allen Families and Staff,
As we prepare for Spring Break, we would like to invite you to pick up a free COVID-19 antigen test kit for use at your home before your child returns to campus from Spring Break. Students return from Spring Break on April 4th for a minimum day, and we would like every family to test their children before students return to campus.
In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Allen Elementary has a take-home test kit for each enrolled student from preschool to 6th grade. Parents and adult family members may claim their child’s test kit today, Wednesday, March 16th or tomorrow, Thursday, March 17, from 1 to 4 pm in front of the school. If you cannot pick up a test during these two convenient times, please contact the school office at (619) 479-3662 to arrange alternatives. Test kits cannot be sent home with students.
While there is no statewide testing mandate for students returning to school, we highly encourage you to use the kits to test your child for COVID-19 before returning from the spring break on April 4, 2022, to help keep in-person school safe for everyone.
In addition, when students return from spring break, masking will be optional. However, masking indoors is strongly encouraged by both the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and our district. With this change in policy, the safest way to keep the schools open is to have as many of our students and staff participate in weekly testing. This allows our school to catch any cases early and before the virus is able to spread throughout the school. The COVID Clinic kiosks at Castle Park, Clear View, and Eastlake Elementary Schools will be open through spring break, so registering with COVID Clinic prior to this will help ensure a safe return to school with masks becoming optional. If you need to register online and place an order for a COVID Clinic test, please do so here:
https://school.covidclinic.org/register.
- Please know that giving consent for the COVID Clinic kiosks (at Clear View, Castle Park, or Eastlake) also automatically gives consent for your child to be tested via Allen’s weekly on-site testing.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our school office at (619) 479-3662. Be well, Eagles.
Warmly,
Mr. John E. Greenwell, M.S.Ed.
Principal of Allen Elementary
