Allen Update (15 Sept. 2021)

Allen Families and Staff,

Please read this brief update before Fall Break…

Courtesy Notice

This is another courtesy notice.  Our campus is very safe and our safety procedures appear to be working as there is zero evidence to suggest that COVID-19 has spread on our campus.  Please continue to mask up, maintain physical distancing when possible, and wash your hands/sanitize spaces you use.

Out of an abundance of caution and in alignment with California state law, we are hereby informing you that the District learned an individual at school tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. This individual is currently in isolation and all staff members and students who may have been affected have already been contacted.

If you have not already been notified that you are a close contact, at this time, you are NOT considered a close contact with a person who recently tested positive for the virus.  Please read the attached letter from the district’s Emergency Preparedness Office regarding an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 recently and was on Allen’s campus. Thank you for respecting this individual’s privacy.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Water Bottles and Fun Run

Thank you Allen Families for your support of our school! We are so excited to see pledges coming in and hope to be able to provide additional VAPA support, STEAM initiatives, and playground improvements to our school with the funds raised through the Fun Run! Due to current COVID-19 protocols, parents are not allowed to watch or cheer this year, but your support of our kids through the donation of water bottles for them to drink on Friday is greatly appreciated!

Awards Ceremonies

Awards Ceremonies planned for the first week of October will now be held online only due to recent COVID-19 guidelines. Teachers will share information about how parents can view your child’s ceremony online when we return from Fall Break.

Yield Sign

Many observant Allen family members have noticed the new signage at the exit of our Allen Elementary and Daly Academy parking lot. Please yield to cars as you exit the parking lot and one-way traffic loop to turn right onto Allen School Lane. Thank you for observing a safe speed and all posted signs around our school. Chula Vista Police may issue traffic citations to drivers who fail to follow signs and directions from school staff and the safety patrol.

Mayor of Chula Vista Visits Allen

Today, the Mayor of Chula Vista, Mayor Mary Casillas Salas came to Allen to speak to our amazing third graders! Students wrote Mayor Casillas Salas and asked her questions. Thank you to Ms. Farlow, Ms. Kriss, and parent volunteer Ms. Rañon for helping to create this amazing experience for our students!

Lost and Found Items

Lost and Found bins are located near the MPR (at the auditorium front doors in building 600). Please claim any items now as any item left at the end of each quarter will get donated to a local charity, as stated in our Allen Family Handbook. We suggest families label water bottles, lunch bags, jackets, hats, and other personal items with your child’s first and last name in permanent marker.

Fall Break Reminder

Don’t forget that we dismiss for Fall Break on Friday afternoon. Classes resume at Allen Elementary on Tuesday, October 5th for a regular school day. Please be safe and follow all COVID-19 guidelines over the Fall Vacation!

Make it a great week!
