Allen Update (21 July 2021)

Hello Allen Families and Staff,

I wanted to share that our first day of school, while not perfect, was a big success thanks to the efforts of our staff, students, and families.  It has been 497 days since the schools of the Chula Vista Elementary School District were closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.  There was bound to be an adjustment period for bringing everyone back to campus in person.  Please give us the grace to find our stride as we aim for excellence in serving your family.  Thank you for your support and understanding as we fine tune the procedures to ensure a smooth and safe arrival and dismissal for all our students.

Before dropping them off to school, please discuss with your children how they will be picked up.  It is fastest for families to remain in their vehicles and use the traffic loop in front of Daly Academy if arriving by car.  If you must park and walk to one of our school gates, please park in street parking or in our lot in front of Daly Academy.  Please do not park in the spaces in the front of the school.  Use caution and follow all posted signs and directives from staff, law enforcement, and volunteers.  If your child is walking to school, please use the front gate near the school office.  We want to ensure student safety and keep them a safe distance from cars.

We appreciate your support of remaining outside the campus gates these first few weeks and hope to be able to welcome parents back on campus in person soon!

Please save the date for our in-person Curriculum Nights for parents and legal guardians!  Grades 4-6 will hold their Curriculum Night on Wednesday, July 28th at Allen Elementary from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.  Our Curriculum Night for grades K through 3 will be the following Wednesday, August 4th from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Allen Elementary.

Please note that all attendees for these curriculum nights will be required to wear a mask that covers both the mouth and nose while indoors due to the California Dept. of Public Health requirements for schools.  Should this change, we will notify you.

Again, I wanted to share my appreciation for our wonderful staff, and to all of you for your support and cooperation as we return from 497 days of school closure.

Let’s make it a great week, together!

Sincerely,

Mr. John E. Greenwell, M.S.Ed.

Principal, Ella B. Allen Elementary School
