Hello Allen Families,
Although our goal of a phased return to in-person instruction was proposed for October 26, 2020, our District will take extra precautions and postpone the reopening because COVID-19 transmission rates in our boundaries are still too high. We want to give you notice now of our decision. We remain committed to a safe return when the data in our boundary area supports resuming at least a hybrid form of in-person instruction. In the meantime, we will continue working with our bargaining groups and stakeholders to ensure a safe reopening at a future date.
If you were unable to view last night’s Virtual Town Hall meeting, you can access the recording by clicking here or paste the following into your browser:
Please continue to follow our school’s blog and check your emails for further updates. Please know that we are working hard behind-the-scenes to ensure that when we are able to reopen safely that we will do so. If you have not yet completed the Family Commitment Form, we encourage you to do so before October 9th. Mr. Greenwell, our school’s Principal, will be sharing all comments with the district. That form can be found on our school blog at https://allenelementary.org/.
On another note, we are moving FULL STEAM AHEAD with our Ultra Fun Run. Keep up the great work getting those pledges! Many students continue to increase their Pledge Requests to earn new prizes. Way to go!
Parents, remember to log the minutes run or walked DAILY into the student/parent portal – “Enter Minutes Run”.
Be sure to be on the look out for each day’s “assignment”!
While you have until the end of our fundraiser to raise money and qualify for the various prizes, PTC will continue to give out fun BONUS PRIZES for sending Pledge Emails and Text Messages. If you have not done so already, please register here: www.ultrafunrun.com

We look forward to an incredible turn out and thank you for making a difference in the daily lives of our students. Remember, the funds raised from this main school fundraiser will provide hands-on learning experiences in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics).
Finally, with the positive feedback that our district received from students, families, and community members last spring regarding Innovation Week 2020, we are very happy to share with you that beginning this Friday, October 9, our District Innovation Team will begin hosting live innovation events every Friday, through December 18. Each Friday, a member of our district’s team will host a live online event related to the innovation experience that they lead. This includes experiences such as the Coastal Education Program at the Living Coast Discovery Center, Health Station, Hydro Station, Innovation Station, and Energy Station. These live sessions are designed to be for all ages and are open to the public. All of the live sessions will begin at 1PM and will be hosted on the Microsoft Teams platform. They are accessible through any web browser, regardless of whether or not someone has a district Microsoft account or the Microsoft Teams app. Teachers in grades 4 through 6 may release students five minutes early on Friday so that all students might be able to participate in these events.
Last year we explored topics from superhero technology to the amazing structures animals use for survival. This year, we have many more topics in store for students and families. This Friday, Mrs. Quirós, our teacher at the Living Coast Discovery Center, will be leading the “All Kinds of Animals!” event, complete with animal ambassadors and even a Kahoot! game for viewers to participate in during the event.
See the attached flyer below for more information.
We love and miss our Eagles!
