This is Mr. Greenwell, the proud Principal of Allen, with your Sunday update for today, Sunday, May 3, 2020.
First, we hope this finds you and your family well and in good health. Please continue to follow all safety guidelines issued by state and county health officials.
Allen Essential Item Distribution
Adults only, please, if possible. Please wear a mask and practice physical distancing. Volunteers and staff will bring items to your car in the car loop outside of Daly Academy.
If your child has medications at school, you may pick them up at this time, or you can leave this year’s medications in the health office to be picked up at later date. As always, new/updated orders from your child’s doctor for the new school year will be needed.
Allen Staff Appreciation Week
(May 4 to 8, 2020)
Join us as we celebrate our amazing Allen team of paraprofessionals and professionals! This is a great week to not only tell your child’s teacher how much you appreciate them, but also the other staff that impact your child’s life at school!

PTC Update
Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations for the PTC election process. There was an error in last week’s messaging regarding the nomination email. It should have read: EllaBAllenPTC@gmail.com. We regret the error.
There will also be a PTC meeting which you are welcome to join on Monday, May 11 at 6:00pm. Please send a request to join the virtual meeting to: Michelle.reza@cvesd.org and Mrs. Reza will send you an invitation.
CVESD Meal Distribution
Beginning on Monday, May 4, 2020, the District will move to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday meal distribution at nine school sites listed below. These schools have a student population where 50 percent or more are on free/reduced priced meal program. Please keep the following in mind when planning:
- Students are required to be present when receiving meals.
- District and school staff will start “Grab and Go Distribution” of meal bags at 10 a.m. and will stop once all bags are distributed on a first come, first served basis.
- Meal bags will contain two days of servings each on Monday and Wednesday.
- Bags will be placed into automobile trunks—they will not be handed through vehicle windows, unless absolutely necessary, for the protection of both our staff and the vehicle occupants.
- Kindly wear a facial covering or mask.
- Meals are intended for our neediest children between the ages of 1 to 18. Servings on Fridays will also include meals for the weekend.

New Student Registration
Do you know a child who will turn 5 by September 1, 2020? It’s time for kindergarten and new student registration! Please spread the word to share how wonderful Allen Elementary is! The school office is closed to the public, so registration is happening online. Questions? email michelle.reza@cvesd.org.
Current Ella B. Allen Elementary students do NOT need to re-register online. They are automatically enrolled for 2020-2021 school year. Residency Verification for returning students will be done at a later time (stay tuned). If your child will NOT return to Allen Elementary in 2020-2021, please email michelle.reza@cvesd.org or john.greenwell@cvesd.org.
