YMCA Campaign

It’s that time of year where we all come together to support our community!  Will you join our cause?  In February and March, the YMCA joins its community partners, such as Allen Elementary School, to raise essential funds, which allows our school’s families to have access to many different services.  This year’s focus areas are Closing the Achievement GapSenior IsolationDrowningMilitary SupportObesity and Poverty.  Funds raised allow all families in our community access to needed services:  No one will be turned away due to inability to pay.   Simply drop off a donation to the school office or click the link below:

https://www.ymcasd.org/campaigner/southbay/42ALLE

Each year the Y gives thousands of dollars, donated by people like you, to provide SCHOLARSHIPS to those who need it the most. Your gift provides the resources needed to prevent drowning, reduce obesity, and address poverty. Swimming lessons help children learn safety around water. Group classes and programs like gymnastics, sports and body pump help participants stay healthy. Before and After School care provides academic enrichment and a safe place for parents to leave their children while they work to support their families. Please help us STRENGTHEN our community by giving a gift now.

Health Update

The Chula Vista Elementary School District and Allen Elementary School have received increased correspondence from parents and staff regarding COVID-19. Please note that our District will refer to this disease by this name in all communication as the term coronavirus by itself is misleading.  It is critical to stay calm and reasonable during this time.  According to HHSA, at no point have any of our students or staff members been subject to exposure to the COVID-19 virus.  Reasonable dialogue and listening to the experts at the HHSA is what we need to focus on and the District is committed to providing additional information as it is provided by our partner agencies.

We have been and will continue to be in close contact with the County Office of Education, City of Chula Vista, and other response agencies.  We follow the direction of the Centers for Disease Control, California Department of Public Health, the San Diego HHSA, and other coordinating agencies.  We continue to work with these agencies to ensure that we are planning appropriate precautionary steps while we work through these issues of health and safety.  Our staff will ensure that common surfaces, such as tabletops, computers, door handles, faucet handles, microwave keypads, and phones, are sanitized and wiped down daily.  We encourage staff, visitors, and students to use tissues to cover a cough or sneeze or the inside of clothing/garment to reduce spread of germs.  We also encourage staff, visitors, and students to use fist bumps, bowing, or elbow bumps as a form of greeting instead of handshaking.  Washing your hands for at least twenty seconds with soap and avoiding touching the face, eyes, mouth, nose, and ears are always good suggestions for staying healthy.  Hand sanitizer will be made available in spaces where there is no sink and soap.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update you as we receive additional information.  For specific information on the COVID-19 virus, we recommend reviewing information from reliable, scientific sources such as:

In the meantime, please encourage your child to wash his/her hands frequently for at least twenty seconds with water and soap and avoid touching his/her face to stay healthy.  Please inform the office if your child is ill.

Please remember to check the Lost and Found bins and tables in front of the MPR for any misplaced items.  We would also like to encourage all students to write both their first and last name in permanent marker on all lunch bags, jackets, sweaters, water bottles, hoodies, etc. All items remaining in the Lost and Found bins at Spring Break will be donated to a local charity.

Respect

Allen Eagles are known for being the smartest, kindest, and hardworking students.  Kindly remind your child about respect at school and the importance of respecting themselves and others. Students should only be using appropriate words at school and they need to ALWAYS keep their hands and feet to themselves.
