ELPAC Testing
Is your child an English Language Learner? All of our students who are English Learners will be taking the ELPAC test this month. ELPAC stands for the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California. You can view and take a practice test with your child here: ELPAC Practice Tests. Please ensure your child is well rested, well fed, and prepared to do his/her best on the ELPAC assessments!
Basketball
Our team continues to play well. There is another game this Friday at 4 pm against Marshall at Marshall Elementary School (2295 MacKenzie Creek Road, Chula Vista, CA 91914). Thank you Coach Farlow for providing this opportunity to our student-athletes!
Zone Transfers
If your student is here on a Zone Transfer and you wish for them to continue for the next school year, please be sure to pick up a Zone Transfer form in the office. These forms are due to the Allen School Office before Thursday, February 13, 2020. If your child is here on an Inter-District Transfer, those forms will be due to the district’s Student Placement Office beginning April 6.
Wear Red Day – Friday, Feb. 7, 2020
Students, staff, and parents are encouraged to wear red this Friday, February 7, 2020 for National Wear Red Day. National Wear Red Day is a day in February when many people wear red to show their support for the awareness of heart disease. Allen is also having a Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association the following week. Look for more information soon!
4th Annual Sock Drive
Allen School’s 4th annual Sock Drive is from February 3rd to the 21st, 2020. Please bring pairs of new, unused socks to your child’s classroom. These socks will be delivered to a local homeless shelter. There will be a popsicle party for the primary and upper grade classrooms that collect the most socks. Thank you Mrs. Burnham for organizing this!
Speech Contest
Students will compete in Allen School’s Speech Contest this Friday! We wish all of our grade level representatives the best of luck! Allen’s winner will move forward to the district level contest with a chance to participate in CVESDTALKS (formally known as the CVESD Speech Contest).
Family First Friday
Parents are invited to join us for a free cup of coffee or tea between 8:15 am and 9:15 am in the Allen Courtyard. This is a great opportunity to connect with other Allen families and meet our new Principal, Mr. John Greenwell. We hope to see you there!
