Important information for the Week of November 28th-December 2nd.

It is hard to believe that we just finished Thanksgiving Break and we have 3 weeks until Christmas Break! That’s ok, because Allen Eagles always finish strong. Here are some things to note for this week.

Safety Patrol: Our Master Sergeants of Safety Patrol would like to remind drivers to listen to the whistle and stop at the stop signs so students and families can cross safely. Also, when crossing the street, use crosswalks at all times in front of the school and in the Daly Academy parking lot. On another note, please come join and cheer on Allen’s Safety Patrol at the Chula Vista Starlight Parade on 3rd Street at 6:00, December 3rd.

Student Council: Your student council officers invite you to join our Toy Drive and bring in a new and unwrapped toy for local children in our neighborhood. The drive starts on Monday, 11/29. Help all our kids have a bright holiday!

Tuesday, Novembers 29th  from 8-9 AM in room 404, a parent training will occur for parents/families of 2nd-6th graders on the Achieve 3000 reading program. A representative from the organization will provide the training as to how families can support their child(red) in using this reading program at home.  Light snacks, juice, and coffee will be available!

Please look out for the permission slip for the Dec. 7 VAPA Showcase. These are to be returned on the hard deadline of November 30th to participate in the performance. Also save the date in your calendar. The performance and celebration will be from 6-7 PM in the auditorium. Student council will have a photo opportunity for sale along with hot chocolate and popcorn. Proceeds will benefit student council events and projects.

Ident-a-kid pictures will happen on December 9th. Flyers with more information will go this next week.

Extended Day/Jumpstart Additional Instruction Programs: This is a instructional program that provides additional time with literacy skills outside of the regular school schedule. This program will start during the week of January 9th. This in an invitation only program for students who meet a specific criteria based on CAASPP  (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, Grades 4-6) results, Local Measures results (Grade 3), and results on RFSA (Reading Foundational Skills Assessment, Grades K-2). Some classroom teachers have sent out invitations on Friday, November 18, many others will send the invitations home this week. Please check all backpacks for this important letter and send it back to school as soon as possible. Once registration forms are returned by December 9th, we will give you the days and times of the program. Remember this is by invitation only, not all students will get an invitation. Questions? Feel free to contact Ms. Garcia, school principal, any time!

Have a great week!
